24 hour news cycle and misleading news
An official of US Dept. of Agriculture was forced to resign when a right wing blogger posted a video that was down right mis-leading. The official in a speech to a local NAACP group related an incident that took place 24 years ago when she was asked to help a white farmer. She was not a government employee at the time. She referred him to a white lawyer essentially because she was the farmer was talking down to her. In fact, that farmer was and is grateful for her help. She related in the speech that she realized she was wrong and she had an obligation to help him because he was poor. Needless to say, that part of the speech was not publicized. The NAACP jumped the gun and fell for the bait as did the Dept. of Agriculture and apparently the White House. Fox News (Bill O'Reilly etc), of course, went wild. I hope that upon reflection people will review what they have said and done and perhaps retract some their ill thought out statements and actions.
